Dr. Erlich Sem is a very experienced gynaecologist and surgeon. His special interest is in robot assisted surgery to manage complex gynaecological conditions. He treats severe endometriosis, remove large fibroids, ovarian cysts and uterus (hysterectomy). As a fertility specialist, he takes into account the fertility goals of his patients and tailors his treatments accordingly.
Qualifications & Associations
Originally from Indonesia, Dr Erlich Sem completed his undergraduate education and received his medical degrees from University of Indonesia, Jakarta in 1997. He developed an interest in women’s health during his internship and later decided to migrate to Australia to further his training.
He began his obstetrics & gynaecology career working at The Women’s & Children’s Hospital, Adelaide. After completing his Australian Medical Council examinations, he decided to move to Queensland.
He experienced a year working in the provincial town of Toowoomba, prior to moving to Gold Coast. He was accepted into Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists training program and underwent comprehensive training through Redland Hospital, Mater Mothers’ Hospital, Gold Coast Hospital and later, Gold Coast University Hospital.
As part of his elective training, for over 2 years he took the role of Gynaecological Oncology Fellow at what was then Gold Coast Hospital at Nerang Street. He is trained in managing complicated pathology and difficult anatomy. In 2016, he added robot assisted surgery to his surgical repertoire to achieve the best outcome for his patients. The precision afforded by the Da Vinci Surgical System is invaluable in complex surgery. He is one of the highest volume robotic surgeon in Queensland. He trains other gynaecologists who also wish to adopt the next chapter of surgery.
He completed his fertility training at Monash IVF Gold Coast.
Dr Erlich Sem participates in ongoing professional development program, and may be away for conferences or teaching sessions.

Dr Erlich Sem consults at Gold Coast Gynaecology, Fertility and Robotic Surgery clinic, located in the heart of Southport CBD.
Fertility procedures are performed at Monash IVF Gold Coast and Broadwater Private Day Hospital.
He has regular operating lists at Gold Coast Private Hospital and Pindara Private Hospital.
